You've hear about "dog with a blog"...but how about a sea turtle with a blog?? Check out this e-post card from Tommy the Green Sea Turtle at http://www.planetozkids.com/oban/animals/stories_turtle.htm . Now YOU get to write his next entry! Take a close look at the two maps below to choose a place for Tommy to blog from. The top map is a closer view of his migratory pattern and the bottom map is a larger view. Speaking as Tommy, tell what he would be seeing, hearing, doing, eating, smelling, and experiencing. Focus on what impact humans may have on Tommy along his journey. Just like the original blog, make sure to include some interesting facts you have learned about sea turtles.
Your blog should be 5-10 sentences in length. You will be graded on thoughtfulness, accuracy of your facts, spelling, and grammar. Happy migrating!
Sea Turtles are very important to people because they like to eat Jelly-Fish and there's not that much Jelly-fish anymore so that is why you dont get stinged anymore. Sea Turtles are amazing creatures they can swim faster than a person. They lay there eggs
on the beach and then when she is done nesting she never comes back to check on her babbies. This is amazing also they go back to where they were born to nest her babbies so that is a life-cycle. The mom lay's her eggs then the baby hatches then the baby Sea Turtle rushes to the water then it grows up and then it would be time for the mother to lay her eggs at where she was born. That was the Life-Cycle of the Sea Turtles. The mom Sea turtle lays about one hundred eggs and about one or two eggs servive and reture to water. That is all the amazing and helpful things that I know about Sea Turtles.

Hi, I am Tommy the green sea turtle. I like jelly -fish, but how can I eat it in peace without worrying that it might be a plastic bag? My friends have been thinking they were jelly-fish, and of course, they die. So, please stop leaving plastic bags in the water. Also, just don't litter plastic bags or anything because it can fly into the ocean.
I remember when I got out of my nest, I heard all of these weird noises. It was a crab, a bear, and my other brothers and sisters. I was looking around for my mother; however, I had a feeling that she had left us. We were on our own, and we had a great time exploring the ocean together.

I recently reached the Gulf of Mexico on my migration. I got here bearly avoiding a fishing net. It swooped past my head, some hooks also nearly knicked my neck. I remember when I was a hatchling and some of my brothers and sisters wandered off toward the wrong light. I will continue on my migration and avoid more threats.

Hi, my name is Tommy. I am sea turtle and I want to warn you that I swim a ton. And I like it! I swam from the Sargasso Sea through and into the Gulf of Mexico. I see sharks, dolphins and really colorful fish. I hear whales singing songs at the bottom of the sea. I eat sea grass since I was a little baby until now. I smell barnacles growing on my back. It feels like pimples on my back! My experience with sharks is very breathtaking because once I almost got eaten! I will warn all of the other sea turtles do not trust sharks!
All day I see bright and fun colors under the water. But on land I can't see very well. I am going to tell you about the color of my shell. It is green and I am a leatherback sea turtle. I follow the light of the moon and whenever I follow it, it leads me to the ocean. I still remember that time when I was a baby when I almost got eaten by crabs, seagulls and bears. My type of sea turtle has been around for centuries. Even when the dinosaurs were here! My eye color is black and I do not put on make up because it marks my rough slimy skin. I do not paint my nails especially and definitely not pink. My favorite color is green like the color that I am. I hope people don't throw anymore plastic bags in the water because most of my friends die when they eat it because they think it's a jelly fish. I hide under a rock when I see fish swim by because some of them have eyes on the back of their tails. Well, I have to go save my friend from eating a plastic bag. See ya!

Today me and my friend named Macbites the sand crab were at the beach at dusk. So then we went out in the blue big sea. While we were swimming we met a friend named bone brain the hammerhead shark. after a while we saw a girl turtle hurting and we went up to her and screamed "Do you need help?" Then she yelled "I have baby eggs in my stomach please help me!" So then we set off for a thrill of a ride, so we carried her off and the next thing you know we see land! As we pulled up we tried to sling shot her to shore and thenshe laid her baby eggs. Yes!

I am Tommy the sea turtle. I have learned that sea turtles always come back to the same beach where they were born to lay their eggs. I have not eaten any plastic bags ,but my brother did. I almost did not escape a fishing net. I am almost at the migration. I have been chased by sharks, hooks have gotten in my neck, and I have almost been eaten by a great white the same one that chased me! Well, I'm finally here at the migraton. Sea turtles are in danger of hooks and fishing nets, so people need to keep this in mind.

Hey do you remember me im Tommy the green sea turtle. I have lots to tell you about my journey to the Sargasso Sea and all around the Gulf of Mexico!! I have learned many things about crusing around in the Gulf of Mexico, for example it is HUGE it took alot of my energy out and i got smarter just like all the kids that go to school!! I met another sea turtle along the way her name is Stefanie the sea turtle, she told me that she was on her journey back to Walton County and to be more specific it was in Santa Rosa Beach!! She told me that she was so excited to become a mother she said that she was ready to keep her babies safe from predators!! Predators you ask well, let me tell you a little fact hatchlings or bab ie sea turtle eggs are a hearty meal for a bird, crab, or even a hungry coyote looking for a good meal. I also met a dolphin on my adventure and his name was Chase, he is a bottle nose dolphin and he wanted to know if i go on land and i said NO i am a male sea turtle only female sea turtle go on land after about 20 years of growing and swimming around the sea. I have learned alot especially that sea turtles have to eat alot to keep their energy flow going. Also did you know that i have almost gotten hit by a boat motor going through Bermuda wow what an adventure. Hey you humans make a big influence on my life and other sea turtles. Remember to keep up with my blog to find out what other adventures i will go on. Thats all for now and remember PROTECT THE SEA TURTLES!!!!!

Today I was swimming through the water and I saw a gigantic, peculiar thing! It had a black propeller, and about 5 nets. It also smelled like shrimp for some very weird reason. Oh! I forget tell you! My friend named Bill came with me. When we first saw it Bill said,"Whoa." "That's a big.... thing." It was so big that we were frightened! We quickly swam away then. One of the nets almost caught me, but I got away.Did you know that 80% of my cousins (the loggerheads), that live in the USA are in Florida? Also, most of my guys live on sargassum. Those are only my smaller friends though. Next week on my blog I'll be talking about how I saved Bill once. Ah, good memories, good memories.

Turtles are fascinating creatures. There are three kinds of turtles. There are turtles, tortoises, and terrapins. The turtles live in the sea, the tortoises live on the land, and the terrapins live in fresh water. Male turtles live in the sea for there whole life. Female turtles go onto the land only to lay eggs. Usually turtles live up to one hundred-sixty years old. Well there you have it, turtles are such good sea animals. Now I'm going to the ocean to have such a good time. Until then, good bye!

Hi I am Tommy and right now I am breaking out of my egg. My egg tooth has a giant part of the egg's shell, I'm pulling and... I broke free! Just as I am getting out of my egg I see the wonderful place that I will live in; the ocean. I see another thing that makes my heart sink: crabs. As quiet as I can I waddle my way out to sea, but then I hear a piercing scream. I look up and see seagulls telling the crabs that I am here. The crabs turn around and spot me I try to escape as fast as I can. Something grabs my back flipper, I look back and see a crab about to eat me. I hit him in the eye with my other back flipper, he lets go and I am finally in the warm beautiful sea thankfully. I look back and all the crabs are watching me. A little one tries to get in the water but quickly runs back out. I go farther out to sea staying afloat because I feel like I should. I look down seeing giant Baracoodas and Tigerfish that give me a feeling of ainxios ness to get out of there. Farther out I find some floating seaweed with other animals such as sea horses little fish and other baby sea turtles like me. I am on my seaweed/ life raft, but as I eat all the seaweed I start to grow and be too big for it, so I leave. I am big enough to eat other animals such as crabs. Horray revenge! I eat other animals to like lobsters, squid, jellyfish, and shrimp. As I eat all theses animals I am careful to avoid big fish and sharks.

Part #2-- One day I was eating a squid and I heard something very loud and coming nearer. I tried to avoid it, but the noise stopped and the ocean was quiet and spooky. All of a sudden I was tangled in a net. I was srtuggling frantically to get out, but I just got even more stuck, so I calmed my self down and looked around for an opening. I spotted a escpe door and got and swam as fast as I could away from there. I was so glad I was safe, after a while I was kinda in shallow water and met a female turtle. I fertalized her eggs in her and I watched her swim to an island and hoped that her eggs would survive. I turned the opposite way to live on for the rest of my life.

Do you know Tommy the green sea turlte? I can smell the salt of the sea. I also hear the sea crashing agence the shore and the kids playing in the water. The thing that I do at the beach is play in the water. You can even see the sting rays eat the the balt fish. So Tommy has seen in his life.
My eyes were fuzzy and full of white sand. It took me awhile to realize I had popped out of an egg. I knew one thing, I wanted to get to the water, the blue salty sea water. I began in the direction I thought I should go and thru the white sands of Topsail until finally I reached the ocean. Oh, how great it felt to swim and be free. Yes, there was danger in the ocean but I was careful and had no problems. It feels so good to be a sea turtle and be free to swim and dive without a care in the world.
